ts: at what point did you start creating your art? how did it all come about?

jb: My earliest memories of creating and loving art was age three! In fact, my parents told me I used to get upset when friends I had over would color outside the lines in my cherished coloring books. Art was always my escape and always what I wanted to do…to this day.

ts: what influences your work?

jb: I am inspired by so much- films, music, light, color, places, people, and of course– fashion–  thesalting!

ts: favorite painters?

jb: Alex Katz, Fairfield Porter, Henri Matisse, Lois Dodd, and Jane Freilicher are just a few favorite painters.

ts: favorite artists? 

jb: Jean Cocteau, Frida Kahlo, Maira Kalman,Thom Yorke, Agnes Varda, Florine Stettheimer.

ts: 3 favorite restaurants in provincetown?

jb: Sal’s, Liz’s Cafe, The Canteen

ts: 3 favorite spots in provincetown?

jb: Breakwater, Herring Cove, Beech Forest.

ts: best advice you've received?

jb: “Keep going!” (which is the same advice I often give others)

ts: morning or evening?

jb: evening

ts: favorite american city?

jb: NYC 

ts: Favorite travel destination?

jb: The Cote d’Azur

ts: 3 favorite movies?

jb: Cleo from 5 to 7, The Birds, The Lighthouse

ts: favorite piece from the salting?

jb: Any of your beautiful striped kaftans- they are my summer uniform.

ts: how do you erase hate in your every day life?

jb: I compliment strangers, smile more, laugh more- and I try to love more.
